I have a race planned for New Years Day, but if I'm up for it I'd like to do a short run New Years Eve ... just cause. Probably won't do it at the stroke of midnight (I'm hoping to be sleeping then!), but likely mid afternoon or so.
@ Heidi - One of the blogs I read has a virtual New Years Day run thing I thought I'd participate in...but then I got to thinking about New Years Eve. I don't have plans this year, we're not going anywhere...actually, I'll be alone. So, what better way to ring in the new year, then to also ring in my return to running. :-)
@ Steve - come on. If I was knocking on your bedroom door (well, because, you know, I have a key) and said...let's go!!!! 5K walk around the lake (or something) and then we'll find a 24 hour Starbucks. You'd still say no????? (and take your key back??) :-)
I don't know about running at Midnight on New Years Eve, but I'll think of you while running a 4.5 miler @ the firehouse before my shift starts the next morning.
And you're not a dork; You're coming up with new ways to keep it fun, & therefore maintain your motivation. Way to go!
I'm doing my last run on December 31. On New Year's day I have to visit a lot of family. It's tradition here to visit family and/or friends and wish them a Happy New Year.
I do have to say I hate it, I don't like obligations like that but I can't make it not to do it. So we will be home late in the afternoon and experience has learned I've had enough after that and do nothing more than lie on the couch and relax.
My husband and I are running in a Resolution Run 5k on Jan 1... I'm looking forward to it (but hoping there isn't too much ice/snow that we have to run through!).

Yep, I'm a dork, it's official.
I wish I could, but I'll probably be sleeping at midnight! =) If you do, have fun!
Everyone will be sleeping?? I'll be sleeping until 11:30, that's for sure.....then immediately after the run. :-)
You have fun with that.

So to make a long story short: I'll pass :)
