OK then. I'm done. I've had it. Sinus infections, colds, the flu.....NO MORE! I'm officially over them all...and that's all there is to it.
(so there)
:-)
I headed to the gym this morning, tentatively, to see if I was actually ready to get back at it. Apparently, I am.
(yay!!!)
I took it easy, ran a nice 2 mile run on the dreadmill (9:59 avg pace)....then lifted weights for 45 minutes.
Hooray! It all went well.
My run 2011 kilometers in 2011 plan is now seriously behind. I may be down, but I'm not out. I've signed up for the first half marathon of the year....I've signed up for my first ever full marathon (in October).....and I'm ready to get back to it.
And mother nature seems to be on board with the plan. 40's this weekend, 50's and 60's (holy cow) next week!!!!!!
I'll be running.....and I'll be doing it outside!
My new shoes are going to get all nasty from the slop melting on the streets....but they're just shoes. My screw shoes are still stained red from the toenail incident a month or so ago.....so why not make my new ones all grubby as well. Makes me look more "road warrior-ish" and less "part time fitness-ish" if you ask me. :-)
I think I'm officially not going to do the half marathon in Kansas in April. I hate to not do it....but I'm a bit behind on the training at this point. I have one scheduled for the 1st of May....and another possible one on the 22nd.
That's not too soon to do another one, is it? Three weeks? If I promise to not take off like a bat out of h*ll from the start line this time around.....if I promise to take it easy....run it to improve, but not to kill myself?
Yeah, I think so. :-)
Going to sit down with the calendar and adjust my training plans....and then I'm off!!!!!! :-)

You've got a great attitude. I've now doubt you'll be out there running in the wind all weekend.
@ Lori - my attitude hasn't been so hot the last week or so....but I woke up feeling soooo much better today!!! Every day I couldn't run, made me realize how much I do actually enjoy it. Can't wait to run outside, in the warmth, and in the SUN!!! :-)
@ Krystal - I'm thinking the same thing. There aren't many around here to do in summer, so I better take advantage while I can. :-)
I know what you mean! Yesterday I came down with a nasty cold - got it from a co-worker who came into work very sick. I'm trying to build up my distance on the treadmill and was so excited that we're going to have such great weather this weekend and next week and could run outside. Now it looks like I'm going to miss it! Glad you're feeling much better.
@ Pat - oh no!!! I hope you get over your cold soon!!!!! Pretty sure I caught mine on one of the airplanes I was on last week. But everyone here is getting sick as well.
Good point of view. Whats wrong with taking off like a bat out of hell? The photos posted for next years race will have you looking so fast and cool..... just kidding ...maybe.
HAHA I'm the same way when I've had a bout of sickness. Take it for a little while, then the foot comes down and I decide I'm done. Usually works. ;)
YAY for warmer temps!
@ Heidi - Yep! Enough was enough! :-) :-)
@ C2Iowa - the bat out of hell strategy worked really well for the first 10K. The second half was, sadly, and epic failure. When I hit the wall at 7 miles, all I could do was laugh and push through it. :-)
I have no idea if it's too soon, I'm not an expert on this. I'm doing my first half in April and if I decide I like doing halfs my next one will be in October.
Congrats on getting back at running and warmer temperatures so you can run outside again.
I've recently bought 3 books of Charlaine Harris about Sookie since I've recently discovered True Blood (we're at season 2 here) and love the serie very much. I do have to start in the books however.
