I'm surprising myself more and more though. Having never run one, times aren't as important this go around...I just want to finish. But, after that, I'm sure I'll be all about improving my times.

I keep thinking though...if you train for a marathon, but only run a half.....wouldn't your times be crazy awesome!??!?!?! :-)Nejhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00982042722943000994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363325295373323993.post-41915388254020764962010-08-11T15:36:38.375-05:002010-08-11T15:36:38.375-05:00Awesome. Seems lots of people had great runs yest...Awesome. Seems lots of people had great runs yesterday (including me - super grin).

I think for some plans the idea is that the race is your moment, your sense of accomplishment in completing the distance. That's why they don't go the full distance beforehand. I think this is especially true for beginners who have never run that distance. And yes, once you get to a certain mileage (like 10) a few more isn't really that big of a deal. For me once I got over about 8 or 9, it was fairly easy to get in the groove and go further. It's mostly a mental challenge at that time.

Personally I don't quite get that concept and I prefer to do the full distance (or preferably a bit more) before a race so I have an idea of how long it will take me. But I'm more about the numbers and challenging myself based upon how long it's taken me before and how long it will take next time. Plus I just like having the confidence to know for certain that I can do that full distance.Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14349360501591800990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363325295373323993.post-46898567117770041462010-08-11T10:42:26.585-05:002010-08-11T10:42:26.585-05:00(grin)(grin)Nejhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00982042722943000994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363325295373323993.post-5108917345019871932010-08-11T10:39:14.462-05:002010-08-11T10:39:14.462-05:00WOW!!!!
